A KIND-HEARTED stranger has saved a baby girl’s life after reading her mum’s desperate plea on Facebook.
Helin Dinler was six months old when, in desperation, her mum Anna Shushura went online to say a liver donor was needed urgently if her little girl was to have any chance of survival.
The tot had biliary atresia – a rare liver disease that blocks the bile ducts – shortly after birth and her parents were given the devastating news that she would die within 18 months without a successful transplant.
Organ donations have the greatest chance of success when they come from close family but none was a suitable match, not even her nineyear-old sister Veronika.
The Record reported in April that Anna, from Stirling, was searching for a donor to save Helin’s life.
She shared a post on social media and urged anyone who thought they could help to get in touch.
The cry for help was spotted by Letty Fenlon, a showjumper from Yorkshire. Letty, 27, contacted the liver donation team and after numerous scans and tests, she was told she was a match.
She told the Record: “A Scottish friend shared Anna’s post. I was registered as an organ donor already but I thought I would apply to check if I was a match.
