Williamson savouring every moment of his meteoric rise with club and country

MAX WILLIAMSON could hardly have hoped for a better season.

Just eight months ago, the 21-year-old lock had not even made his debut for Glasgow.

Today against Uruguay, just a month after winning the URC with his club, he will become the only member of Scotland's starting line-up to have played in all four games in their Americas tour.

Ten other players have also made their debuts on the tour, which has so far seen Gregor Townsend's squad beat Canada, the USA and Chile.

But no one has made a bigger impact than the 6ft 6in forward - who last night admitted he would not have believed anyone who told him a year ago what was going to happen.

He said: "I probably would have laughed. It has been pretty surreal, to be honest.
