INVESTIGATORS took three days to search a ton of cocaine hidden in banana boxes from South America.

Michael Miller, 56, of the National Crime Agency, gave evidence yesterday at the High Court in Glasgow where James Stevenson, 59, is accused of masterminding a worldwide drug smuggling ring that spanned the UK, Spain, Ecuador and Nurai Island in Abu Dhabi.

He appeared with five others – David Bilsland, 67, Garry McIntyre, 43, Gerard Carbin, 45, Paul Bowes, 53, and Ryan McPhee, 34.
