WE'VE DONE WELL.. NOW WE WANT TO DO WELL

DEREK MCINNES knows beating Motherwell won't produce the headlines his Kilmarnock team earned by overcoming the Old Firm.

But a victory at Fir Park come Saturday will go a long way to confirming the gaffer's belief his side can make a splash this season.

McInnes' Rugby Park outfit have started the season in style, backing up a shock opening-day Premiership victory at home to Rangers by dumping Celtic out of the Viaplay Cup.

A decent draw at Tynecastle took place in between the Glasgow double, with a trip to the Steelmen up next.

And while McInnes isn't expecting the game to make the news bulletins, he reckons the result will be a strong signal of their intent for the campaign. Killie did not pick up their first away league win until April last term and finished the season with 15 defeats from 19 games on the road - the worst in the top flight.

McInnes said: "To beat a club like Celtic, you have to do a lot right.

"And Sunday just reinforced to the players we can be a good side and beat any team.
