Wife abuser Hogg is banned from contacting ex for five years

FORMER Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has been banned from contacting his wife for five years after breaching bail conditions.

The star, who has 100 caps for his country, was also fined £600 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court and ordered to pay an additional £40 victim surcharge.

The 32-year-old former Lions player previously admitted shouting and swearing and acting in an abusive manner towards his now estranged wife Gillian.

He pled guilty to a single charge of domestic abuse over the course of five years when he appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on November 4.

Yesterday Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence for that offence until next month for clarification on whether Hogg, who plays rugby in France with Montpellier, can take part in a rehabilitation course remotely.
