People warned to stay indoors as six fire crews battle flames which took hold near caravan park on hottest day of year so far, as temperatures soared to 26.7C

MILE-LONG BLAZE SWEEPS ACROSS HILLS

A WILDFIRE stretching for a mile was still burning last night.

Six fire engines were at the village of Daviot, near Inverness, after the blaze took hold on Saturday.

Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service warned people nearby to stay indoors and close all windows and doors to prevent smoke inhalation.

On social media, people in Inverness reported being able to smell smoke during the night.
