WRONG VAR CRASH

NEIL LENNON had a ringside seat in Sky's studio for the latest VAR ding dong at Tynecastle on Sunday.

And now the former Celtic boss is convinced the time has come for ex-players to be drafted into Clydesdale House before the country's bungling officials do any more damage to the credibility of the game.

Lennon pulled no punches in his role as a pundit after watching his old club crash to a 2-0 defeat against Hearts in a match which was punctuated by a string of controversial decisions.

And he was still letting off steam at Hampden yesterday as he looked forward to this weekend's Scottish Cup quarter finals.

Lennon said: "My opinion on VAR is the same as it's always been.

"The technology is right, it's the implementation that causes the problem.

"You can bend the rules anyway you want to get the decision. We talk about common sense and there's the laws of the game and they seem to be two different things. They got all the big decisions wrong on Sunday, apart from the offside against Lawrence Shankland.

"I don't think Celtic's was a penalty, I don't think it was a red card because there's no real intent - he's not going with any real force, he's trying to flick the ball over (Alex) Cochrane's head.

"Don Robertson got that decision right first of all.

"Then the penalty Hearts got was embarrassing.
