TRAGIC Amber Gibson's killer brother was branded "truly evil" as he was jailed for life for sexually assaulting and murdering the schoolgirl.

Connor Gibson, 21, was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison for strangling the 16-year-old after trying to rape her in a park.

Lord Mulholland told him: "The last person she saw was you, her brother, strangling the life out of her. What you did was truly evil."

Amber's body was discovered in woods near Cadzow Glen, Hamilton, on the morning of November 28, 2021, two days after she had been reported missing.

In a series of chilling messages, the killer had contacted the Daily Record claiming he wanted "everyone to know what she was really like", demanding a face-to-face interview and paying glowing tributes to his sister online.

But Gibson's sickening attempts to appear like a grieving family member were exposed as a total sham.

Sentencing Gibson at the High Court in Livingston yesterday, Lord Mulholland warned him he would not be eligible for automatic release at the end of the punishment part of his sentence.

Instead, he will have to apply to the Parole Board which will decide whether or not to free him.

A second man- 45-year-old dad-of-two Stephen Corrigan who found Amber's body and sexually interfered with her corpse before concealing it in undergrowth, was jailed for nine years.

Lord Mulholland told him his actions had made the police investigation into Amber's murder more difficult by potentially destroying forensic evidence.
