WORKERS are being "cheated" out of £2billion worth of holiday pay as employers deny requests for time off.The TUC said its research suggested 1.1million did not take any of the paid holiday they were entitled to last year.The "missing weeks" of holiday paid added up to £1,800 per affected employee, while the jobs with the highest numbers losing out were waiters and waitresses, care workers, and kitchen and catering assistants.Reasons included workers not asking over fears of being treated unfavourably, workloads not allowing time off and requests being turned down, the TUC said.TUC chief Paul Nowak said: "We all deserve a break from work to spend time off with friends and family, but more than a million working people have been deprived of any of the paid leave they are due, and hundreds of thousands more have been denied basic rights." The union organisation called for effective enforcement of employment rights to help workers and was supporting Labour's plans for a Fair Work Agency.
