It contains 3kg of gold and 7kg of silver.Tens of thousands of people have been on the hunt since the series of puzzles and clues were written by Régis Hauser.The clues were often short riddles or plays on words to help sleuths find the location of the prize in France. The owl was estimated at the time to be worth £206,000.A message by Michel Becker, who illustrated the book and took over as game master after Hauser died in 2009, read: "We confirm that the replica of the golden owl was dug up."
