A METROPILTAN Police officer has been charged after allegedly stealing money from a man who died. PC Craig Carter is alleged to have taken £170 from Claudio Gaetani, 45, who collapsed in a north London street. Mr Gaetani, an Italian filmmaker and actor, suffered a heart attack during the morning rush- hour while cycling to meet people he was staying with in Hornsey. The previous night he had arrived from Italy for a theatre festival and had exchanged more than 200 Euros at the airport. Officers at the scene took Mr Gaetani’s passport and wallet, and his friends kept his bike and backpack. But his wife later noticed the cash was missing. PC Carter is charged with misconduct in public office and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
