UFO hunters are searching a frozen lake for an "alien spacecraft" that crashed nearly 80 years ago.
An object was seen to fall from the sky into a lake in 1947.
Now experts are combing the lake after sonar detected a 46-foot-long and 10 feet wide object under the surface.
Divers have been left intrigued by the image and hope to finally solve the mystery.
Photographer Rue Rostad said: "It looked like a rocket and it made a lot of noise.
"It turned 180 degrees and landed in the lake." Rostad and his team are using an underwater drone and other high-spec technology to hunt for evidence in Lake Djupsjoen in Roros, Norway.
A film crew is also following the search and hoping to produce a documentary.
Ufologist Arnulf Loken, member of the Norwegian UFO Center, said: "It's really exciting. It is one of the largest UFO search operations in Norway's history." An unnamed researcher added: "I think it's something known, not something unknown from space." It is not the first mysterious sighting to rock the region.
Ever since 1981, unexplained lights have appeared over the nearby town of Hessdalen and baffled UFO enthusiasts.
