Kane still driven by being shown door at Arsenal as eight-year-old

HARRY KANE has never been the type to need extra motivation but, as the former Tottenham forward returns to north London with Bayern Munich tonight, he can scarcely have been more fired-up for a club game.

Obviously, there is Kane's history and connection with Spurs and the opportunity to haunt Arsenal again in the Champions League quarterfinal.

Kane has almost always risen to the occasion against Spurs's great rivals, and no one has scored more Premier League goals against Arsenal than his 14, while Kane's five at Emirates Stadium is the joint-most for any visiting player.

He has previously said that so much of his unparalleled drive to be better comes from a desire to prove his early doubters wrong, most notably Arsenal, who released him as an eight-year-old.

"It might sound ridiculous, I was only eight when they let me go, but every time we played them, I thought, 'All right, we'll see who's right and who's wrong"" Kane said in 2018.

The England captain will be given a hostile reception by the home support tonight, which will be particularly buoyant as no away fans are allowed in the ground, but as Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel pointed out, Kane tends to enjoy being targeted.
