ANGE POSTECOGLOU has played down concerns over Heung-min Son's fitness, and says the Korean's determination to play whenever possible is "beyond commendable" and a lesson for others.
Son is currently unable to train fully due to a niggling groin problem, but insisted on playing in South Korea's midweek friendly against Vietnam because he did not want to let down supporters. He completed 90 minutes and scored in a 6-0 win.
The Tottenham captain has been cleared to lead the line tonight, as Postecoglou's unbeaten side aim to return to the top of the table when they host Fulham, and the head coach is confident Son will continue to "perform at the highest level".
Asked if he might have to occasionally rest Son for his own good, Postecoglou told Standard Sport: "Look, as long as he's still scoring goals, I don't care.
"He doesn't have to train, he doesn't have to do anything! He's scored six goals [this season] and he scored for Korea. Sonny is who he is, and he's got to where he is because of the person he is. I'm certainly not going to change any part of that.
