Whether we’re talking about a gym or a members’ club or digital subscription services like Prime, we all rely on these more than we care to say. On average a Brit spends £500 a year on entertainment services. Those who are into fitness or use members’ clubs as workspaces or purely for enjoyment run their bills into the thousands.
Let’s be honest, we all take it for granted. All of it. We want our packages delivered yesterday. We want the clubs to be not empty. but not be busy. We want fresh content to inhale all the time and the list goes on and on and on.
One of the things that attracts us to any kind of club membership is that it gives us the all-important sense of being part of something, that sense of community. Just like with everything else, though, too much of a good thing and we get the urge to want more. We become unhappy with imperfections, we expect everything to be right and perfect every single visit and that’s just not how the world works.
We easily forget how lucky we are to be part of a shared experience, we take for granted the effort a server or trainer or customer service person puts in day in, day out, managing relationships with all sorts of people — good and bad.
