Sharjah Police nab over 100 beggars, seize Dhs50,000

The efforts of anti-begging teams in the Sharjah Police, in collaboration with community members, have resulted in the arrest of several beggars during the first half of the Holy Month of Ramadan, as part of the police's awareness campaign “Begging is a Crime, Giving is a Responsibility,” aimed at reducing the phenomenon of begging, according to Brigadier General Omar Al Shamsi, Director of the Special Tasks Department.

Brigadier General Al Shamsi stated that field teams arrested 87 men and 20 women during the campaign, and seized cash amounts exceeding Dhs50,000.
