KARNAL: A day after two men were shot dead and another was injured when four-five armed masked miscreants opened indiscriminate fire on them outside a gym in Yamunanagar's Radaur, the local police on Friday arrested two men for their involvement in the crime.

The accused were identified as Arbaz and Sachin Handa, both natives of the Chhachhrauli sub-division in Yamunanagar. They were arrested during the late hours of Thursday, a police spokesperson said. The accused were presented before a court and sent to police remand till January 2, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, superintendent of police (SP) Rajeev Deswal on Friday suspended eight cops, including sub-inspector Nirmal Singh, who is the in-charge of the Kheri Lakha Singh police post, which is situated around 100 metres away from the crime scene.

Other cops include ASIs Jasbir, Surender Kumar and Surender Singh, head constable Krishna, and constables Gulab, Ravi and Dalbir. The action against cops was taken after agriculture minister Shyam Singh Rana, who is also a BJP MLA from Radaur, took serious cognisance of the matter and spoke to the SP.
