LUDHIANA: The hospital has arranged over 1,000 blankets to keep the patients warm and the heaters in the wards have been made functional."We have gathered over 1,000 blankets and ensured heaters are functional in every ward to keep the patients warm and safe," said senior medical officer (SMO) Dr Harpreet Singh.Earlier in November the health department instructed government hospitals to ensure that all measures are taken to provide safety and comfort to the patients.Through a letter, Ludhiana's deputy medical commissioner (DMC) entrusted the hospitals to ensure that all beds have blankets, and all wards have the necessary arrangements for keeping the patients warm.The letter emphasised ensuring the provisions of blowers, oil heaters and air convectors in labor rooms, wards, NICU, PICU and emergencies in adequate numbers to meet the patient load. The room temperature thermometers must also be functional.The department also instructed hospitals to get the damaged windows repaired and broken shards replaced on a priority basis.
