Rahul pays surprise visit to victim's village

AGRA: He interacted with family members for about 45 minutes but did not speak to the media.

The woman died about a fortnight after she was allegedly gang-raped by four accused from the same village in Hathras in September 2020. Three of the four accused were later acquitted by an SC/ST Court in Hathras while one was sentenced to life imprisonment. The matter is now pending before the Allahabad high court.

The Congress leaders in Hathras said the family had written a letter to top leaders of the country, complaining that justice was denied to them. Rahul Gandhi was the first to reach the village with his sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra soon after the incident in 2020.
