Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that the Shiv temple that was reopened in Sambhal on Saturday did not reappear overnight and represents "our enduring heritage and the truth of our history".
He said that the tragic incidents that took place 46 years ago in Sambhal where innocent people lost their lives to "barbaric violence", and said, "Why have perpetrators of the massacre not been brought to justice even after decades?"
He criticised those who seek to "suppress the truth and tarnish cultural events" like the Kumbh, asserting that voices of truth often face threats and efforts to silence them.
The Sambhal administration on Sunday began removing encroachments from the area.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrish Chandra, the focus is on clearing drains outside houses and shops in the area under the Nakhasa police station.
The area is close to the residence of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Zia ur Rehman Barq.
Chandra said the operation, aimed at restoring public spaces and ensuring a smooth flow of the drainage system, started at 7 am.
