Killer RPF cop needs 'mental disorder treatment': Jail

Chetansinh Chaudhary, the now-dismissed RPF constable who allegedly gunned down four people on a Jaipur-Mumbai train near Borivali in July 2023, is suffering from a mental disorder and needs to be shifted to a Nagpur hospital for further treatment, authorities of the Maharashtra jail where he is lodged told a court on Thursday.

MUMBAI:

Chaudhary is accused of shooting dead his senior colleague, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Tika Ram Meena, and three passengers on board the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express near Palghar station on Mumbai's outskirts on July 31, 2023, with his service weapon. He was arrested soon after and dismissed from the RPF.

He is currently lodged in the Central Prison in Akola district under judicial custody.

On Thursday, the sessions court hearing Chaudhary's case received a letter from the Akola Central Jail, asking for permission to take him for treatment to the Regional Mental Hospital in Nagpur.
