NEW DELHI: The man—a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh—had earlier told Delhi Police investigators that he took the extreme step after the UP police registered three cases against him in his hometown.
However, the deceased's family has alleged that the man, who worked as a laborer, was harassed by four people in Baghpat, was the victim of casteist slurs, and claimed that the UP police filed a case against him under pressure from the aforementioned people.
