Libya's National Oil Corporation "declares a force majeure... because several Zawiya refinery storage tanks sustained significant damage from gunfire... that led to serious fires", it said in a statement.
Clashes broke out between armed groups in a western Libyan city, trapping residents in their homes and causing fires in the country's second largest oil refinery, officials said.
