Singh: Raj is now a land of opportunities

JAIPUR: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday announced the creation of a new department for the Pravasi Rajasthani community, aimed at promoting their interests and leveraging their expertise in sectors like tourism, health, and education. He also declared December 10 as the "Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas", to be celebrated annually.

Addressing the Pravasi Rajasthani conclave (Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR) conclave) on the second day of the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, Sharma said, "The department will cater to the interests and well-being of the Pravasi Rajasthani community. The department (for the Pravasi Rajasthani community) will utilise the suggestions, expertise and resources of the Pravasi community to help Rajasthan take new strides across sectors such as tourism, health, and education."

He further said that December 10 will be officially marked as "Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas" every year. He said: "On this day, members from the community from across the world will be invited and felicitated along with being honoured for their efforts towards the development of Rajasthan." He also announced the annual Pravasi Rajasthani award for the members of the community.

He said that a single point of contact (PoC) will also be appointed across all districts of Rajasthan to resolve the grievances/complaints of the extended family members of the Pravasi Rajasthani community.

Speaking on the occasion, governor Haribhau Bagade said, "In all small and big cities of the country, the Marwari community from Rajasthan has earned name and fame in their respective professions and made their native state proud."

Governor of Sikkim Om Mathur in his address praised the industrious nature, entrepreneurial spirit, and bravery of Rajasthanis and highlighted how the community has earned global recognition and created mini "Rajasthans" worldwide by promoting the culture and heritage of Rajasthan.
