The sequential contraction of 0.1% in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was also the lowest in three months, though in line with analyst estimates.
A break-up of WPI data shows moderation in food product prices drove the fall. Primary food articles and the overall food group, with 15.3% and 24.4% weightage in the WPI basket respectively, grew 8.6% and 8.9% in November compared to 13.5% and 11.6% in October. Vegetable inflation slowed to 28.6% from 63%.
Manufactured goods, forming 64.2% of the WPI basket, saw 2% inflation, up from 1.5% in October. Excluding food items, manufactured goods prices rose 0.5% from 0.3%.
