MULTAN/KARACHI: At least 30 people were killed and nearly 80 others injured on Sunday when several compartments of an express train derailed in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, in the latest rail disaster to hit the country.
Ten bogies of a Rawalpindibound train got derailed, and some overturned, near the Pakistani town of Nawabshah trapping many passengers, said senior railway officer Mahmoodur Rehman Lakho.
The Hazara Express travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi derailed in Nawabshah district near the Sarhari railway station, from Sindh's 275 kilometres capital Karachi.
