At the base weather station, Safdarjung, a minimum temperature of 4.9°C was logged on Sunday - four degrees below normal for this time of the year. It was also a sharp dip from the 8°C recorded a day earlier. Meanwhile, the lowest minimum was recorded at 3.8°C, at the Pusa weather station, which was five degrees below normal.
Forecasts show that the minimum is now likely to hover around 5°C till Tuesday, keeping the chill intact, even as a western disturbance is likely to influence northwest India on December 16 and 17, which weather scientists say could lead to a slight rise in temperature.
