Delhi airport to up capacity to operate flights during fog
Hindustan Times|January 18, 2024
India's largest and busiest airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, will soon be able to increase its capacity to operate flights during low visibility due to adverse weather conditions such as dense fog, as it moves to operationalise its third CAT-III compliant runway-28/10-this week after finishing recarpeting work.

The maintenance work was delayed by a month as a result of enforcement of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi to reduce air pollution, Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

"The maintenance was taken as top priority to be completed by December 15 before the onset of the fog season. However, due to pollution incidents and enforcement of GRAP-IV in Delhi, the recarpeting got delayed, resulting in a delay of one month in its commissioning. The revamped runway is getting operational this week," Scindia said.
