TWO STAFFERS WRAPPED THE PATIENTS IN BEDSHEETS, PUT THEM IN AN AMBULANCE, AND DROVE TO REMOTE AREAS WHERE THEY LEFT THEM, OFFICIALS SAID
Avinash Kumar

Two staffers of a government-run hospital in Bihar's Aurangabad district allegedly tied two mentally ill patients with bedsheets and dumped them 20km from the premises, the state police said on Friday, adding that one of the patients died and the other was missing.

The incident came to light on November 12, when police found an unidentified body of a 50-year-old man, wrapped in a red-and-white bed sheet that had the 'Rashtriya Swasthya Mission' words inscribed on it.

Police now say that two members of the Model Sadar hospital in Aurangabad - Harendra Kumar, who loaded the patient on a stretcher, and stretcher staff Sranjan Kumar - allegedly wrapped the two mentally ill patients in bedsheets, put them in the hospital ambulance, and drove to two remote villages where they left them.
