Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (Railways) KPS Malhotra said that information about the incident was received at 11.52 am when some labourers, hired by a railway contractor, were working at the spot.
The deceased person was identified as Mohammad Rafique, a&nbsp;resident of Daya Basti, he added.
"Police teams reached the spot and found that the goods train, which was travelling from Mumbai to Chandigarh and was loaded with iron sheet rolls, derailed and its 10 bogies got overturned," he said.
The DCP said that prima facie it seemed that the train lost balance while negotiating a sharp curve. "Train movement in that particular section was hit after the incident. After due procedures of the railways are completed, train operations will resume," Malhotra added.
"Rafique was mainly a ragpicker, but was working at the accident spot along with three other labourers for the Railways under a contractor," he said.
