The prime minister, who is currently undertaking an 11-day ritual of temple visits and religious rites ahead of participating in the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Monday, also took a holy dip at the "Angi theerth" beach natural spring inside the Ramanathaswamy temple complex at Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district.
As part of the 11-day ritual, the prime minister is sleeping on the floor, and taking only a coconut water diet, people aware of the matter said.
"Honoured to have got the opportunity to pray at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Prabhu Sri Ram's connection with this Temple is long-standing. I feel blessed to have been blessed by the God whom Prabhu Sri Ram also worshipped," Modi posted on X, sharing photos of his visit to the Vaishnavite shrine in Tiruchirappalli district.
