DEHRADUN: India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant survived a high-speed highway crash in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district early on Friday after the Mercedes car he was travelling in alone hit a divider, lost control, and turned upside down before bursting into flames on the Delhi-Roorkee road, according to the police and witnesses.
Pant, who remained conscious after the accident, was able to break a window of the car and exit the burning vehicle before passersby rushed him to a Roorkee hospital. The 25-yearold, who suffered injuries on his forehead, right knee and abrasions on his back, was in a stable condition, and told police that he dozed off at the wheel.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement said "the board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care".
