He is survived by his wife Anju, son Angad and daughter Neha. He had a son Gavasinder and daughter Gillinder from his earlier marriage to Glenith Miles.
The former India skipper, who with BS Chandrasekhar, Erapalli Prasanna and S Venkataraghavan made spin, turn, flight and the art of coaxing batsmen to dismissals the central theme of the country's Test cricket, took a then Indian record 266 wickets in 67 Tests at his retirement in 1979.
Born in Amritsar in September, 1946, Bedi made his Ranji Trophy debut Northern jab (1961-62 to 1966-67). He then moved to play for Delhi from 1968-69 to 1980-81.
