Woman kills daughter to marry lover
Hindustan Times|November 24, 2024
A 27-year-old woman from Wazirabad village, northwest Delhi, has been arrested for allegedly strangling her five-year-old daughter after her boyfriend's family refused to take care of the child, police said on Saturday.
Hemani Bhandari

The murder took place on Thursday, and a case was registered at Ashok Vihar police station.

Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Abhishek Dhania said that the girl was killed on Thursday, with her body brought to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital. Doctors informed police that the child had strangulation marks on her neck, prompting an immediate investigation, police said. The girl was brought to the hospital by three individuals, one of whom initially claimed to be the child's maternal aunt.

However, a senior police officer said, "After sustained questioning, the woman broke down and confessed that she was the girl's mother and had strangled her."
