A NOTORIOUS rapist was jailed for 10 years yesterday – for tying up and gagging a 92-year-old woman in a violent burglary.
Belfast man Edward Connors carried out his latest attack with his girlfriend Leanna Connors.
The 30-year-old was jailed in 2009 for the rape of an American tourist in his home city.
Manchester Crown Court heard the pair left the elderly victim tied to a chair in her home in Burnage as they made off with jewellery including her wedding ring.
The woman suffered bruising to wrists, mouth and arms as a result of the ordeal.
Connors had noticed the woman had left her window open at about 11pm on a warm June evening last year.
He used ladders to climb into her bedroom before binding her wrists with a dressing gown cord and ordering her downstairs.
He then used the house keys to let in his 29-year-old partner.
