€1.2bn record Meta fine over EU data breach

FACEBOOK'S parent company Meta has been fined a record €1.2 billion by the Irish Data Protection Commission - and taxpayers will benefit.

The penalty for breaches in transferring data between the United States and Europe is the largest-ever EU privacy penalty.

And the DPC confirmed the money will go straight into the coffers of the Irish Exchequer.
