IRELAND’S most famous Nativity scene will have a crib this Christmas – but live animals are still banned.

A council meeting last night failed to overturn a decision not to allow a donkey and sheep at the Mansion House in Dublin.

Defiant Lord Mayor Caroline Conroy said: “The only difference is there will not be live animals in the crib.”

Lord Mayor refuses to back down on 'Scrooge-like' call

THERE will be no animals at the Nativity crib outside the Mansion House in Dublin this year.

The ban on live animals will go ahead despite calls for the “Scrooge-like” change to be reversed by Green Lord Mayor, Caroline Conroy.

She added: “I’d like to reassure people that what we are aiming to do is to make the experience better this Christmas.
