Forecasters say warm weather will continue & issue safety call

Bake holiday weekend

THE glorious sunshine is set to continue over the bank holiday weekend - with growing confidence it will last for another while.

But so far, we haven't hit a heatwave - which is five consecutive days with the mercury hitting 25C.

Yesterday, the highest temperature so far was recorded at Shannon Airport where temperatures hit 25.3C.

The national forecaster has said temperatures are set to continue as they have been in the low 20s.

Met Eireann's Paul Downes added: "Technically we haven't had a heatwave as yet but the glorious sunshine is set to continue.
