THE Duchess of Sussex has faced "disgusting" and "very real" threats to her life, a senior police officer has revealed.
Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said people had been prosecuted for threatening Prince Harry's wife after detectives investigated the threats.
The Met's most senior ethnic minority police officer revealed the shocking Meghan alerts in an explosive interview as he prepared to leave the police service after 30 years.
Asked if the 41-year-old's life had been at risk more than once he replied: "Absolutely. We had teams investigating it. People have been prosecuted for those threats.
"And if you'd seen the stuff that was written and you were receiving it... the kind of rhetoric that's online... you would feel under threat all of the time."
His comments in the Channel 4 News interview last night are likely to spark a storm after Harry and Meghan were denied UK police protection.
