Drug to help MND victims live longer

A GROUND-BREAKING drug which could extend the lives of MND sufferers has been found. 

The treatment is made from a protein called interleukin-2, usually given to kidney cancer patients and already found in the immune system.

More than 200 people with MND injected themselves in the stomach for five days a month in a 21-month trial.

They were found to have a 70% lower risk of dying.

Prof Timothy Tree, of King’s College, London, said of the study: “These remarkable results are a real breakthrough.
