ELTON John has appeared as a defence witness at Kevin Spacey's sexual assault trial, recalling a party that may have been on the date of one of the allegations.
The rock superstar, 76, was called by the defence along with his husband, David Furnish, 60. Both gave their evidence via videolink from Monaco.
Elton told jurors Spacey had attended a charity ball he hosted at his home in Windsor, Berkshire in 2001.
One complainant alleges that, on the way to one such event in the early 2000s, Spacey grabbed his crotch.
The complainant says he was in a car with the actor, who grabbed him so hard that he cried out in pain.
Asked by prosecutor Christine Agnew KC whether he had a recollection of Spacey at the party, Elton said: "Yes, because he arrived in white tie.
