A MODEL used in Steven Spielberg's classic E.T. has sold for an out-of-this-world €2.4million.
The "mechatronic" prop, regarded as an engineering masterpiece, went under the hammer on Sunday.
It sold for €2,407,228, 40 years after the movie alien's innocence melted hearts across the globe.
The film went on to win four Oscars in 1983, including Best Visual Effects.
