DESPITE the mercury hitting high temperatures the past week, Ireland hasn't reached a heatwave - just yet.
According to Met Eireann, that is defined as five consecutive days of a minimum of 25C.
The national forecaster said so far this month, at most there were only two days when air temperatures exceeded that threshold at at least one of its weather observing stations.
A spokesman added: "So far in the month of June, there has not been four consecutive days with air temperatures greater than 25C, when looking at temperature data from our official weather observing stations and Ireland as a whole.
"At most, there were only two days when air temperatures exceeded 25C at at least one of our weather observing stations." Despite little sunshine with plenty of showers and isolated thunderstorms, yesterday was still warm and humid with the mercury hitting highs of between 18C to 24C.
