STRICTLY star Amy Dowden has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 after finding a lump the day before she went on her honeymoon.
Amy, who married her professional dance partner Ben Jones last summer, was showering when she discovered the lump before their belated honeymoon in April and saw a doctor on her return.
She received her diagnosis last week and revealed the news on social media, posting: "Hey all, I've got some news which isn't easy to share. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it."
The Welsh dancer, who has become a firm favourite on the BBC show since joining in 2017, was told she had grade 3 breast cancer, the "most aggressive".
She is now iting for an MRI an and a biopsy on a second lump to confirm the stage of her breast cancer, how big it is and if it has spread, but knows she will need surgery.
POSITIVE
The dancer has also suffered debilitating Crohn's disease since childhood and has spoken publicly about the inflammatory gut condition to raise awareness and help other sufferers.
Talking about her cancer diagnosis, she said: "I've been through quite a lot in my life and this is another hurdle. But if I'm positive and strong, I've got a really good chance of getting back out on the dance floor as soon as possible."
Talking to Hello! magazine, she said: "With what I've done for Crohn's, I want to do the same here. If I can try and turn this negative into a positive, it's going to help me get through this."
