Manyone for tennis?

AROUND 10,000 fans were kept waiting to get into Wimbledon amid increased security measures on the first day of the Championships yesterday.

The queue for €31 ground passes snaked past the main gates and around a nearby field due to enhanced bag checks to stop Just Stop Oil protesters sneaking in.

Tennis fans who arrived as early as 4.30am were still waiting after 1pm, with no one explaining what was happening.

Those who did manage to get in were disappointed when rain stopped play just after lunch, with the break lasting until 3.30pm.

Siblings Oscar and Lucia Sanchez came 5,000 miles from San Jose, Costa Rica, queuing from 4.30am. They were still in line nine hours later.
