
BBC bosses say the investigation into Huw Edwards could take months, meaning the presenter is unlikely to be back on TV before the autumn.
Edwards, 61, was taken off air when allegations that he had paid a young person for explicit images were reported earlier this month.
His wife Vicky Flind identified him as the person at the centre of the claims last week and revealed he was in hospital with "serious mental health issues".
