DAVID Tennant says he sees his return to hit TV show Doctor Who as "a victory lap".
The actor, 52, who played the 10th Doctor from 2006 to 2010, will appear in three specials to mark the sci-fi show's 60th anniversary this autumn.
He told how he jumped at the chance to play the 14th Doctor - and work with show boss Russell T Davies again.
"It's a victory lap, in a way," he said.&nbsp;"You get to enjoy something that meant so much to you...one last shot before you get too old.
Tennant, whose original co-star&nbsp;Catherine Tate will also star in the special episodes, said he was "always receptive" to the idea of a return.
"Initially, it was a casual conversation, going, 'Wouldn't it be fun to do a&nbsp;one-off? Then Russell was back running the show," he said.
Tennant, a lifelong fan of the BBC franchise, says he's already had a glimpse of his successor Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor.
Speaking to Radio Times, he said: "It makes me feel like I'm just holding the coat till he arrives because he's very exciting.
