Soaring calls for hate crime help

THE Crime Victims Helpline saw a 78% rise in LGBTQ and racist hate complaints last year, stark new figures show.

It comes as Justice Minister Helen McEntee promised a new State Domestic Violence Agency will be in place by January.

The Crime Victims Helpline released its annual report for 2022 yesterday.

It also found an increase in calls relating to cybercrime, such as the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
