POLICE in Spain were last night on the hunt for an Irish holidaymaker who allegedly fled the scene of fatal road crash.
The victim of the accident has been described as a 45-year-old Peruvian man.
The other driver, said to be an Irish national whose age has not been made public, reportedly left the area on foot before police arrived and abandoned a hire car he had only recently rented.
The accident happened around 4am yesterday on the N-322 main road in the town of Torrevieja near Alicante, near the Parque de las Naciones.
Only two vehicles were involved in the crash.
Local police were said to be the first to reach the scene of the collision although the ongoing investigation is being led by the Civil Guard.
The circumstances of the crash or who, if anyone, was to blame, have not yet been determined.
Police have not yet made any official comment but urged anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them.
