ERIK TEN HAG warned Manchester United’s underperforming stars that they are playing for their futures at Old Trafford.
United’s hopes of a treble of trophies was wrecked on Thursday night as they crashed out of the Europa League after their humiliating defeat by Sevilla.
Boss Ten Hag now has to rouse his shattered troops to face a resurgent Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley tomorrow – and the Dutchman warned that some need to realise just what the expectations of playing for United are.
The Reds, who have already won the Carabao Cup this season, were aiming to add the Europa League and FA Cup to that tally – along with a top-four place in the Premier League. Europe has now gone after the debacle in Spain, but a Champions League spot is still within United’s grasp with Ten Hag’s side sitting third, six points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.
